The thing that symbolizes me is an airplane. Because my dreams in life are as high as the plane could go. I also believe that I am the pilot of my own destiny. And also, as I look at the airplane, it reminds me of my dream to travel the world.

  3. I consider myself a round person because I don’t have any restrictions regarding the tasks that is being given to me. It it is new to me, i should find means to study and learn how to do it. In the past, I don’t even know how to start up the computer, i don’t know how to use the keyboard and i can’t do everything in the computer, but since I’m a round person, I changed my perspective, I had self-help, i had to explore every nook and cranny of the computer together with preparing reports for self-improvement…..and VOILA!!! Name it and I’ll know how to do it…I didn’t say “I” but I said “I’LL” know know how to do it…because everything needs to be learned…

  4. In my box of chocolates, I have myself.
I need to start with myself because I need to keep my focus to understand things better. I should be on the right direction so I can be the perfect model for the people around me.
As a person, I have flaws and limitations that upset and frustrate me a lot. But still life has to go on because I need to divide myself and manage to be unmindful in attaining my dreams and ambitions. And with that I know I can serve the Lord through my family and my students.

  5. In my box of chocolates is my S-E-L-F.

S for SERVICE. I will serve my students with all my heart. I know that God has called me to teach. I know that I am God’s instrument- that He is going to use me to carry out His plan. I am blessed to have been given such opportunity. I believe that it is my duty to work with the students that are trusted in my care, and that I am to view my vocation as a teacher as a ministry to the Lord. I will seek to instil Biblical truth, and model this truth through my own life, serving as an example for my students. In every situation I will look for opportunities to show the love, mercy and grace of our Heavenly Father, to my students. Ultimately, I aim to honor the Lord God through my teaching, and to instil such desire in my students as they learn as well.

E for ENCOURAGEMENT. My approval and positive reinforcement will make my students feel important and that their work is recognized and valued. I will make my classroom a friendly place where my students feel heard and respected. Through that, they will be more eager to learn. Good teachers know how to bring out the best in students.- Charles Kuralt

L for LOVE. LOVE is the greatest gift I can give to my students. I will demonstrate the fruits of the spirit to everyone that I come in contact with, so that my students may notice the difference in us. I will teach my students to demonstrate these values in their everyday life. My classroom will be a caring, safe, and equitable environment where each student can blossom and grow. I believe that when positive self-image is evident, students are able to show God’s love to others.

F for FAITH. I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. I will help my students develop their full potential by believing in them as capable individuals. I will assist them in discovering who they are, so they can express their own opinions and nurture their own ideas.

In my box of chocolates I keep these lines from a song that inspires me.

I believe the children are our are future
Teach them well and let them lead the way
Show them all the beauty they possess inside
Give them a sense of pride to make it easier
Let the children’s laughter remind us how we used to be

In my box of chocolates I keep this prayer for my students: A teacher’s Prayer by James J. Metcalf

I want to teach my students how–
To live this life on earth,
To face its struggles and its strife
    And to improve their worth.

Not just the lesson in a book,
    Or how the rivers flow,
But to choose the proper path,
    Wherever they may go.

    To understand eternal truth,
    And know right from wrong,
And gather all the beauty of
    A flower and a song,

For if I help the world to grow
    In wisdom and grace,
Then I feel that I have won
And I have filled my place.

And so I ask your guidance, God
That I may do my part,
    For character and confidence
    And happiness of heart.

    🙂 🙂 🙂

“Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.” There is a lot of truth in the quote. Nobody knows what’s coming next every time you dip your hands into the box. It tells us that life is a mystery. Tomorrow is a new day and no one knows exactly what will happen next. The box of chocolate can also be compared to our classes at every opening of the school year. Each box of chocolates is different, like our students and there is no way of knowing what is in each box until it is opened. Therefore, like a box of chocolates, life is just a mystery that we come to comprehend as we bite into each new day.

  8. In my box of chocolates is a Crane (Bird).

Crane is used to gives HOPE to those in needs. Just like what the Alternative Learning System (ALS) aims to, I would like to gives HOPE and open educational opportunities to those people who are somehow lost their hope with regards in their education like the less fortunate, out-of-school youth and adults who are elementary and high school drop-outs.

So I am here now, not just because I want to be the change I wish to see in this world but also be the HOPE for the change I want to see in this world.

Life is not really happened as what we want to be.Life is like a box of chocolates that really would surprise you what is inside! It is for once person then to have options in choosing what will exactly fit him/her to become a better person. In my journey to life I’ve been through a lot of struggles making myself a whole ,but God is indeed great! He then gave me options! To appreciate life and embraced circumstances and make the most of it.I always believe that God is fair enough to allow us to see the beauty of life.Maybe everything just happened for a reason.I believe that in a box of chocolates are my dreams and aspirations that i started to realized at present…A teacher by heart and will always give perspective to my students that LIFE is indeed beautiful to enjoy and appreciate.I see myself as boat waiting for surprises to a new journey in life….and will continue to sail together with my students to inspire them each day…

Like a box of chocolates, we never know what we can get. But we all know it is sweet and delightful….
As a teacher we can never choose who may our students will be, some might be good and may be some were distracted and confuse. It is a great challenge for us as a teacher to lead them the right path and make them feel that they are important and in great value to our society. Reaching out those out of the school youth and those in need of educational attention makes us teacher more valuable than ever in this world. We teachers are all an instrument of changes, we beat all odds and we inspire for victories.
A box of chocolate is like a gift from our fruitful endeavor, seeing our students fulfilling their dreams by means of our own simple way……. it is sweet and delightful…..

  11. Share what you have…….. be compassionate to others…… it feels great to be of help to others especially to those who are in need.. At first, I thought my profession is just to teach the children , feed their minds, but beyond teaching there is more that I can GIVE. Some students will just come to you to talk, because they need attention, a listening HEART and motherly advice. It a treasure, since they TRUST me. Like an AIRPLANE, I have a BIG dreams for myself, students and family. For my students, for them to discover that they are capable for discovering and nurturing their skills. A fulfilling moment , when they approach you, saying that they made it, a life you wanted them to have.
For , I have to Focus towards my goals in life,,, set priorities, without sacrificing others… I may encounter difficulties, but these will not turn me down. I know my big GOD will never leave me …..

In my box of chocolates,, there are more to give and share.

  12. “What is it that you can give?”

I can, and I will, give myself. Fortunately, I was able to experience being an Alternative Learning System (ALS) teacher for Accreditation and Evaluation (A & E) students for two years way back 2007-2009. As an A & E teacher on those years, I had seen the struggles of my students. Many of them were products of broken families. Some were living under a bridge; poverty really enveloped them. I also encountered a case wherein at their young age they were already mothers. And, as a teacher, it was not easy for me to be exposed on those circumstances; those things gradually tore my heart into pieces.

Since, I could see on those students their palpable desire to learn, it gave me drive to continue teaching them. The way their faces lit up upon knowing something new was what kept me going. I had been motivated by my own students’ positive outlooks on learning that’s why I had promised that I will give myself – my dedication, my time, my resources, my experiences – to them. Scenarios such as giving some of my money to the financially needed student will not be avoided. There was also a time that I need to fetch my students in their respective houses just to be sure that they will be able to come to school. Such sacrifices were needed in order for my students to feel that I am here for them. Doing those unrequired acts reminds me that I am a teacher – not only by profession, but also by heart. Though I am not teaching ALS curriculum anymore, still, I am here continue touching the lives of the younger generation.

At present, teaching elementary pupils gives me time to ponder that dedication and commitment to my profession is very much needed especially that these pupils are still young and still need to be equipped with the basic knowledge and skills that they really need. Furthermore, providing them with information is not enough, still they need to be nurtured, to be understood and to be loved. And, I do believe if I would give myself unselfishly to my pupils I could create responsible individuals who will pave the country’s aspirations.

  13. YOU CANNOT SHARE WHAT YOU DO NOT HAVE….The box represens ourselves. It contains all our thoughts, emotions, feelings and our whole personality. If “your” box is empty then you are not ready to share your self with others. Sharing means opening your “box” in order for them to see the real you. This also means you are ready to impart what you have in your life. What will you impart if you, yourself is not properly filled in with enough resources.

Each box we open is full of surprises. And these surprises add spices to our lives.

Educators like most of us here should be a full box ready and prepared to share our selves with our main clientele, the students.

  14. If you open my box of chocolates you can see my Heart that is very much willing to give TIME.

Rick Warren in his book The Purpose Driven Life mentioned about the importance of time..According to him “Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.

In school ,I have to manage my time wisely and make sure that Tammy’s T.I.M.E is devoted to: Teach, Inspire and Motivate Every learner under my care. I’m handling the Open High school program and the Alternative Learning System,I’m really challenge to motivate the Out of School Youth to continue and be able to finish their basic education..To let them enjoy learning,: include (T. 15. Now as we belong to 21st Generation Teachers it is now time for us to start the changes, to unleashed, to come out. And out of our BOX we can shred out, do the POSITIVE things. Knowing the right direction with a full of understanding together with COOPERATION we can now DIVIDED halves wherein we can face the negatives sides of our lives. We should be strong enough to face the reality of negativity. Sometimes we can be FRUSTRATED, we might NEGLECT something but be UNMINDFUL because facing those realities in life can be one of the qualities that we can be successful, we will prosper into being one. “What we can give is all what we have” Just like The Father he gave His Only Son for us”
As a Teacher I can be their way to learn, to grow and to explore. I will be giving my time for them even to sacrifice myself just to impart them what I have. I will share my knowledge which can be of great help to them someday. What is more important being a part of ALTERNATIVE LEARNING SYSTEM which we will be dealing some less fortunate children I think I will also sharing with them “My Heart, My Love.”

Heart is the symbol that represents me. I always see to it that I am living my life to the fullest, and heart is where the true life is. Heart, being the primary organ of all the body system gives us the ability to make things happen. It gives us the ability to feel and be considerate of other people’s feelings, especially in giving love and affection. On this note me as heart is seen as the seat or place of tenderness and affection and I really believe that I have that capacity for kindness and sympathy. In reality, the emotions and what we love are actually determined by what we think and believe about what we feel which we label emotions, and all of these comes from within me. Me as heart, truly from the very bottom of me!

  18. When asked to make a symbol that represents me as a teacher, triangle was the first thing that popped out of my mind. Triangle is considered as the sturdiest geometric shape. Having three sides that can support its whole figure, the triangle’s structure reminds me to be stable and flexible at times needed. As a teacher, it is normal for me to meet challenging situations that require my just decision-making skills. Such situations eventually measure my credibility that’s why I need to be mindful in my actions that will impact my students and my school. There will be moments that will seem to be hopeless, but I need to be strong enough to face these obstacles with a good presence of mind and an active involvement and support of my colleagues.

  20. A rose is a sign of LOVE.
My love for teaching enables me to pursue my study. I want to grow professionally so that I will be equipped with the new trends in teaching. With that, I can deal well with the 21st century learners.I can show my love to my learners if I teach them well.

A rose is a sign of PEACE.
We give someone a rose if we want peace. As a teacher we should be a peacemaker. Let peace begins in us. We can do this if we impose discipline in our classroom. If we have disciplined pupils, we have peace in our hearts.

    A rose gives HAPPINESS.
Happiness is one of the most important thing in this world. If we are happy, we can make the world happy. We can do our job cheerfully even though how hard it is to be teacher. We can influence others too.
Happiness is the best weapon to fight STRESS….

The represents ME…..I give LOVE……. I am an instrument of PEACE.. and most of all, I am a jolly person who gives HAPPINESS to the people around me.

  21. What symbolizes you?
    An Airplane would symbolize me…

An airplane travels to many places and carries a lot of passengers of different ages. When it lands safe at the final destination, it fulfills its purpose and use. Just like an airplane I’m a traveler. I love to travel to different places and I’ve been doing it for years. Just like an airplane also, I have been instrumental in the lives of students of different ages. I train them with love and care to facilitate their arrival at their expected destination. I consider myself successful so long as I have made their experience worthwhile.

What is it that I can give?
At the start of the class we shared our symbol. I chose an airplane to symbolize me. An airplane is instrumental in a journey, and students are on a journey of discovery. They are in the process of discovering who they are, and how they fit in this complicated world. I am the means by which they will arrive at their place in this world. I need to be responsible by preparing for the classes that I teach to ensure the accuracy and credibility of what I impart, much like the airplane maintenance prepares an airplane to ensure that there will be no mechanical trouble. I need to be patient and solicitous of the needs of my students to ensure that they have an environment that is conducive to learning, much like the airplane crew who see to the needs of the passengers to ensure their comfort. I need to be quick and alert to problems that may interfere with the learning process, much like the airplane pilots are quick and alert to turbulence. Finally, I need to rely on God’s provision and grace because it is only by His will that any journey ends in success.

It was a piece of stick, small and simple as you look at it. But it has many… it can be a guide for blind, a support to those who are feeling weak, a companion to those who are walking alone and can be a weapon in time of danger. As teacher, friend, daugther, wife and mother… ican be a piece of stick in times they need me.

What symbolizes me as a an individual?

In the first day of our class, Our professor asked us to make symbols through the use of paper that best described us as a person.
I created a big heart, because heart symbolizes love, and love symbolizes God. God first loves us, and I feel the overflowing love of God in my life, that is the reason why I am capable and willing to give love to those who are needy, misunderstood, through showing care and understanding.
    L-O-V-E
-big word right? but we cannot deny the fact that love is the reason why we live, and love is the reason why Jesus died on the cross for us, just to save us from eternal suffering.
-Love is also the reason why we want to achieve our dreams in life.
-Love is also the reason why I am passionate to teach my students, because without love you will never be happy.

LOVE is the beginning of everything!
So let’s all give love and compassion!:)

  27. definitely – a boat epitomize me…
Life is like the vast sea – unexplored and still, it is quite difficult to deal with. When the sea is calm in its serenity, or monstrous as if it’s a gate of hell, that is where I had the thought of my representation. Boat navigates the sea in the same clean concept that I deal with life. Every big of life that I hurdle to conquer life – my boat which is my self handles the storm, twister and the catastrophe of the aquatic world. I am both the ship and the captain of my life. Invictus I must say.
Man is buffeted by circumstances so long as he believes himself. I am a teacher I wife, sister, daughter — a woman captain perhaps.
Just like any other boat at risk to sink. I shall remain anchored to the faith of the Divine force I travel – with the an attitude of being a captain of my soul.

A flower that have its torn that became its defend mechanism for those who wanted to destroy them. L ike a flower prepare my self to be attractive and interesting in a way that my students are eager to see me and motivated to listen to every lesson that I am discussing. I believe that our physical appearance highly affects the interest of our student towards our lesson. As they say that we are the best visual aid that we can bring towards our student but off course not setting aside our attitude, preparedness and mastery of our lesson. Like a flower I must say that I grow every single day, emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually as I serve my students. lastly, like a flower I also have my defend mechanism towards each trials that I am encountering every day that I do my part as an educator and that is my strong relationship with God. I KNOW that with his guidance I can pass through all the challenges that I will encounter. Knowing myself first will lead me to be an instrument of God to let my student know themselves deeply, their strenght and their weaknesses .

    WHAT SYMBOLIZES ME?

In our first meeting with our Professor, she gave us challenge to express ourselves through a symbol.

With the use of a paper, I constructed an AIRPLANE.

To be a pilot is my first dream. a dream which even though it was not materialized, it eventually made me realized that it (pilot) really is my role now! 😀

I am currently employed as High School Teacher, proudly to say that I am a trainer in both academics and co-curricular activities. In academics, I am a trainer/speaker in Parliamentary Procedure and coach in the Skills Competition. In co-curricular activities, I am affiliated to the Boy Scouts of the Philippines where I am a trained trainer in Scouting skills. Indeed, I am a teacher. I hone and boost the potentials of my students.

Aside from that I am also spearheading my students, scouts and fellow teachers in our Community Services in various sectors such as Literacy Program for Indigenous People in the Sierra Madre, Livelihood Program in Gawad Kalinga, and Repacking of Relief Goods in DSWD National Relief Operations Center for the victims of typhoons.

I realized that I already achieved my dream to be a pilot. A dream which has translated into attainable action and had come to reality. I am indeed a pilot because I carry people to achieve their own goal in life.

“TORCH” is the symbol the I have chosen. It symbolizes “Light” which derived from my Arabic name “Nhor or Nur”. I want to be a source of light to enlighten my fellow classmates as well as others on the beauty and wisdom of Islam which derived from the word “Salam” which means “PEACE”. I do agree that most of the people around the world are in the state of darkness as they look in to ISLAM as a religion of violence due to biases that are being presented by the media and other means. Indeed, those people are need of a learned Muslims who will educate them and save their children from being the victim of prejudices out of ignorance. Knowing the individual differences such as cultures, traditions and religions is one of the sources of understanding and respect which are the needs to attain the everlasting PEACE. The very first thing that came into my mind when I heard this question was a CIRLE. A circle symbolizes infinity. Trying to connect it into my life, 24 hours a day I thank God for giving me infinitely many blessings more than I deserve. It’s not only about physical matters that I am blessed to but I am blessed with that unconditional love that God has given to us. Things that I could share from my box of chocolates are the love and care that they deserve, these go beyond the knowledge and more than any lesson from the books. A circle also symbolizes a moon, in their dark moments there exists a light that will surely brighten up their life!

The triangle that I made symbolize to reach my goals and dreams in life and for my learners. The baseline of the triangle symbolize the trials that I encountered, failures in life, my ups and down. Only our self can correct our faults, the decisions that we made. I rely all my decisions to our God. He was there when I encountered some obstacle. I never gave up. I continue my life. I became an inspiration to the young generation. When I became a full pledge teacher, I felt the love coming from my students despite of my failures in the relationship. Those students was my inspiration to go further and to reach my goal. And I thank our God for the blessings that He gave to me.

For me, studying and meditating the Holy Bible is the highest activity of man can perform because God the Most High is revealing Himself through His word, the Bible.

Being a son, a brother, a friend and an educator, i have to make myself productive. Productive in a sense that I have to perform different tasks well. By doing so, I can really give what is best for my family, friends, co-workers and especially to our pupils. It’s not anyone else who can make difference for the lives of our love ones but it is OURSELVES. And to make things, goals and our mission well-achieved, we must be in the spirit LOVE, PASSION, COMMITMENT, DEDICATION and DEVOTION so that whatever happens, though trials are always coming our way, we will not be apart to the most of our plans in life.

  37. I compared myself to a boat that represents a journey, a crossing, adventure and exploration. As it crossess the sea it conquers waves to reach its destinaton.
Likewise, life is a journey. We have to navigate whatever circumstances that may come our way to achieve our aspirations in life.Trials and shortcomings give us strength in dealing with our future.

  38. i can compare myself as a shuriken origami. A shuriken is a traditional Japanese concealed weapon that was generally used for throwing, and sometimes stabbing or slashing. Ninja stars, or Shuriken, were invented in the Japan. “what goes around, comes back around”. Cosmic forces have a way of coming back threefold, in the respect of both nature and fate. You plan to only send out good vibes and real love so you’re prepared to expect only happiness in the next life.

  39. I can compare myself with a book. They say don’t judge the book by its own cover. Like a book people keep on saying negative things about me without really knowing the real story. But like a book, it’s what makes mysterious and more appealing to the readers. Like a book, they think that i am boring, no fun, nerdy or dull; but when you started reading the pages, you will start to understand who i really am.

The symbol I chose to represent myself was a flower. I opted for a flower primarily because it is reflective of my existence. Similar to my symbol, I am positive that I can help make the world a better to place to live in. I can contribute to the development and progress of the society. I am also able to cheer people up – to lift their spirits. Likewise, I play a significant role in building wonderful and lasting relationships.

On the other hand, I know that I cannot succeed without the provision, guidance and strength coming from the Lord, Our Maker. Just like a flower, I need to be watered by God’s Word, cultivated by love around people that surround me, and I need sunshine to light my way each day. Hence, I can only make my existence meaningful and worthwhile when I allow my Maker to mold me and use me for His glory.

I believe that this opening activity of the course allowed me to ponder
on the importance of knowing oneself in a deeper sense – to realize our strengths and weaknesses. We should start within ourselves so we can identify the things we can offer to the community. As the saying goes, “We cannot give what we do not have, and we cannot teach what we do not know”. I am confident that I have great things to offer to others in need through the Lord’s might and provision coupled with my willingness to learn and share my abilities, as well as my sincere love for teaching and molding the lives of the youth. Apart from the talents I share to my learners, I also try my best to rightfully divide my treasure and time to the needy.

Its me i love to write what ever come up of my mind that represent my feelings.
The eraser as a part of pencil it symbolizes also my heart and sayings ” Ang aking pagmamahal ay parang pambura, unti unting nauubos pag nagkakamali ka”

  42. The symbol i chose to represent myself was a Bible. I want to be a channel of God’s love to everyone, specially to my students. The heart of this Book is John 3:16. It speaks about the love of God to all the sinners like me. If I am loved by Him, I ought also to give love by sharing to them HIS goodness. My heart’s desire is to be used by Him as a light in this world. Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven”..

And you eat all the ones you like, and the only ones left are the ones you don’t like as much? I always think about that when something painful comes up. “Now I just have to polish these off, and everything’ll be OK.’ Life is a box of chocolates.”

Life is full of surprises; you never know what will happen next.
