  1. A 21st Century Manager should be a very good forecaster on how to improve the ability/ies of his/her teachers. We may see future leaders to be smart and knows everything but for me I still would like to go back to my favorite passage which says..What we need is not a new government but a new heart and mind. Did we ever think of strengthening our values and teach it to our children? That’s the first thing that I want to build, my values. Next would be to trust people’s abilities to contribute to my dream, the dream of building a better world, not building dynasties and kingdoms. As a 21st century manager, I should focus more on the youth in order for them to become better persons in the future, that is, by seriously injecting the values that they should know. That there is always light behind the dark clouds. As stewards of these children, we should be patient enough to let them understand that Rizal’s hope on the youth as the hope of the future is not lost.

  2. One management lesson I learned is “never start a project unless all resources are available.” So as a 21st century builder, I’ll start by making all resources available to me. “Available” would not only mean the materials needed but more so with my moral, mental and emotional capacity. Hence I should equipped myself with all the necessary knowledge in order to be an effective 21st century builder.
In this changing time, we have to respond to the signs of the time. The education system nowadays faces tremendous challenge and it is upon our shoulder as the front liner in education to deal with that challenge. So let us build our character first for our students look upon us as their model. By starting in ourselves, we are delivering a quality education since our very self is the best visual aid of all.
Next we build our legacy in our students that last a lifetime. It may be hard to achieve because it is hard to address every particular need of every student, however with conscientious effort we may be able to be an effective 21st century builder or if not die trying.

  4. INTEGRITY. This I think is what a 21st Century manager build. This encompasses PROFESSIONALSM, RELATIONSHIP and CHARACTER. For Professionalism, the 21st Century Manager must learn Leadership/Management Skills such as planning, motivating, executing, delegating, monitoring, guiding, evaluating, directing, time managing, innovating, etc. This should be coupled with CHARACTER which includes respect, courage, kindness, honesty, industry, patience, being straightforward, broadminded, fairminded, inspiring, disciplined. If this is achieved, the manager is able to establish favorable RELATIONSHIP.

    1. To be an affective manager one should have the following:
      1. Communication. A manager with strong communication skills is able to instruct as well as he listens. Managers who can communicate effectively can process information and then relate it back to their teams clearly. As managers should be able to understand, decipher, and relate the organization’s vision back to their employees in order to maintain productivity. Conversely, ineffective communicators will miss the point of what they’re being told, won’t be able to recognize the impact on their team, or will fail to share the message with their team.

      2. Leadership. Affective manager are able to instill trust, provide direction, and delegate responsibility amongst team members.

      3. Adaptability. The ability to adapt. When a manager is able to adjust quickly to unexpected circumstances, he is able to lead his team to adapt as well. Adaptability also means that a manager can think creatively and find new solutions to old problems.

      4. Relationship building. Affective managers should strive to build personal relationships with their teams. Employees are more likely to exceed expectations when they trust their manager. When managers establish a relationship with employees, it builds trust and employees feel valued. Valued employees are more willing to get the job done right and apply extra effort when needed.

      5. Developing others. The best managers know when their employees need more development and how to ensure that those developmental opportunities are successful. Developing others involves cultivating each individual’s talents and motivating them to channel their talents toward productivity.

      6. Developing themselves. Finally, an effective manager is aware of their own personal development. In order to successfully develop and lead others, managers must seek improvement in themselves. A manager who is willing to continue to grow and learn and use their natural talents to the best of their ability will be able to encourage the same behavior in employees.

We teachers are known to be the curators of all our yesterdays and architects of our tomorrow, we accomplish our mission through the minds and hearts of children, the youth and adults.
In this, A 21st Century Manager/Leader/Educator should possess these:
    1. God-fearing- as the Holy bible says in Proverbs 1:7 ” The Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. A successful 21st century manager always acknowledge God.
2, Respect- We should always respect the ideas of our students
    3. Good Role Model- an inspiration to others
    2. Perseverance- Whatever challenges that you encounter as a manager we don’t stop to help, as the former president of USA , Abraham Lincoln says: I do the best I know -the very best I can, and I mean to keep doing so until the end.
    3. A 21st century manager should always willing to upgrade his skills/knowledge ,he is always willing to learn and to accept the changes in the society.
    4. A 21st century manager is always willing to give his best without expecting in return and he has outstanding CHARACTER.

Finally, a 21st century manager should always build camaraderie to his /her subordinates/students/stakeholders.

  7. A 21st century Manager is one of the most complicated jobs today. It demands broad knowledge of subject matter, curriculum, and standards; enthusiasm, a caring attitude, and a love of learning; knowledge of discipline and classroom management techniques; and a desire to make a difference in the lives of young people. With all these qualities required, it’s no wonder that it would take to ensure that the idea of “21st century Manager”—or more precisely, building the effort to ensure that all students, have access to a rich education that intentionally helps them learn and be—— successful. And these show that the single most important factor determining the quality of the education a child receives is the quality of his/her teacher.

  8. WHAT SHOULD A 21ST CENTURY MANAGER BUILD?
Days are running so fast that we cannot hold on to what is going to happen by the following year. The new generation is here, and with it, newer and brighter ideas. As 21st century managers, we must build a strong moral foundation in our students. We must continue to apply what we have learned, we must be adaptable to the environment but with honesty and in truth so that we can stand with dignity and pride until the last day of our battle. We must continue to learn new ways to adapt to the new environment that we are facing a head of us. Whether there are hindrances along the way, we should have the courage to continue in doing the right thing. We should help build the future pillars of our society with knowledge and character. Character that will help them surpass all the test of life with proper behaviour. We must also be managers who are adjustable in whatever situation we are going to encounter along the way. We must not stop learning and we must continue to search on a new strategies and practices to cater the needs of our future clients.
