This is a basic course on child and adolescent development focusing on current research and theory on the biological, linguistic, cognitive, social and emotional dimensions of development, and the factors that affect the progress of development.

Particular emphasis is given to the factors that have been identified as having positive or negative effects on the natural course of these developmental processes.

The coverage of these ideas are intended to provide the future teacher with a broad, yet fairly detailed understanding of the developmental processes that pupils/students undergo  — that such an understanding may be used to guild all dealings with an individual child.

Upon successful completion of this course, teachers will be more CREATIVE in helping each child ORGANIZE & MANAGE his/her development while in the stage of adolescence — so that we could raise a village of MORE AWARE individuals who are equipped with the “know-hows” of helping themselves GROW and LIVE FULLY!
