  1. 1.1 The Psychological Foundations?Basis of Education
Great Educators do it all, motivate, change lives, inspires, lead and interact with the community to affect positive changes through their learners. Great educators are always looking new ways to expand their instruction. It is an exaggeration to say that a great educators can change a learner’s life. As some of the most influential role model for developing learners, educators are responsible for more than just academic enrichment. Educators can connect with the learner’s and reach them on multiple levels because the best educators are committed.
    1.2 Temperament/Personality
Temperament is an aspect of personality. It ordinarily denotes the emotional makeup of learners, his susceptibility to emotional stress, whether he shows affection or sympathy readily or not. Teachers must know first the personality of each learners and the emotions of each learners. It is important to know the feelings of all learners to know what kind of strategies we will apply during the lesson.
1.3 The Learners and The Learning Process
Learnings is not always improvement in behavior. It should be distinguished from changes in behavior, knowledge, information, habits, skills, attitudes and appreciations. Learnings must also the acquisition through maturation and experience of new and more knowledge, skills and attitudes that will enable the learner to make better and more adequate reactions, responses and adjustments to new situations and conditions.
    1.4 Motivation, Discipline and Guidance
Why do motivation, discipline and guidance important in school?
It is important because it controls and directs behavior. Behavior must be controlled for the good of the learners. It is also important to inspire and guide all the learners in everyday lesson.
    2. Considering the Sociological Foundations/Theories (Social Stratification/Groups/Agencies for Educations and some theories on Human Relations and Leadership) How could we address the Social Problems portrayed in Joey Velasco’s ” Sa Kambas ng Lipunan”/On the Canvass of Society

  2. part 1:
1.1 The Psychological Foundations/Basis of Education [10 pts]
 Education depends heavily upon psychology because the king and amount of education that the learner acquires is conditioned by his psychological traits such as general mental ability, aptitudes, temperament, interests, effort-making capacity, physical condition, etc.
 We must teach our pupils not only the information they need to know and the knowledge we want to share to them but we have to go deeper on their differences for them to learn what we are teaching to them. We have to use different strategies and teaching styles that suits to their needs for them to fully understand the lesson we are teaching.
    1.2 Temperament & Personality [10 pts]
 Temperament refers to those aspects of an individual’s personality, such as introversion or extroversion, that are often regarded as innate rather than learned. A great many classificatory schemes for temperament have been developed; none, though, has achieved general consensus in academia.
 Temperament is determined through specific behavioral profiles, usually focusing on those that are both easily measurable and testable early in childhood. Commonly tested factors include irritability, activity, frequency of smiling, and an approach or avoidant posture to unfamiliar events. There is generally a low correlation between descriptions by teachers and behavioral observations by scientists of features used in determining temperament. Personality has to do with individual differences among people in behavior patterns, cognition and emotion.
 Temperament and personality are sometimes related to one another because usually our personality shows depends on our temper. When we response to one situation it includes our emotions that’s why sometimes we carried away and we over act on it. So sometimes people judged us based on the actions they saw on us. And as a teacher we have to be a role model to our pupils so we have to be careful on our actions and control our temper.
1.3 The Learner & The Learning Process [10 pts]
 The learner are the pupils we are teaching and also us the teachers are also learners because we also gain knowledge from our pupils. Because accidentally when we hear from the talks of our pupils we learn things that we can’t read from books we study on a particular lesson. The learning process are the styles and strategies we use to deliver the lessons to be fully understood by our pupils.
    1.4 Motivation, Discipline & Guidance [10 pts]
 Motivation is literally the desire to do things. It’s the difference between waking up before dawn to pound the pavement and lazing around the house all day. It’s the crucial element in setting and attaining goals and research shows you can influence your own levels of motivation and self-control. So figure out what you want, power through the pain period, and start being who you want to be.
 Discipline is the control that is gained by requiring that rules or orders be obeyed and punishing bad behavior, a way of behaving that shows a willingness to obey rules or orders, behavior that is judged by how well it follows a set of rules or orders.
 Guidance is the act or function of guiding; leadership; direction, advice or counseling, especially that provided for students choosing a course of study or preparing for a vocation, supervised care or assistance, especially therapeutic help in the treatment of minor emotional disturbances, something that guides, the process by which the flight of a missile or rocket may be altered in speed and direction in response to controls situated either wholly in the projectile or partly at a base.
 What makes me motivated?… my motivation to work harder is my family. Without them I can’t focus on my work or in everything I do.. and in my work my pupils motivate me a lot..kahit sobrang nakakainis na dahil ang kukulit nila nakakatuwang isipin na sila ay natuto sa mga ginagawa namin sa paaralan.

  3. 1.1. Psychological Foundation/ Basis of Education
As a teacher, we always make sure that we are ready to our lessons. Our objectives, always starts with a line ” at the end of the lesson, the pupils will……….
Sabi nga nila…teacher can make or break one’s mind. But as an educator, we can mold a good masterpiece for the future. Isa lang tayo sa mga contributers to make a good and productive individual. Experience, ups and downs help also para maging matatag and more wise in making descisions in life ang mga batang ito….

    1.2. Temperament and Personality

Personality is an organized combination of attributes, motives, values and behaviors unique to each individual.

Be true to yourself…sabi nga ng isa kong classmate.

1.3. The learner and the Learning process
We, as a part of the society, act as a learner in this big classroom called world.

May ups and downs…pero sa bawat journey daw natin thier is what we call learning.
Life is a blessing from our father. As a learner, enjoy and endure all the experinces that we may encounter and be fruitful as a children of God……

    1.4. Motivation, Discipline and Guidance

A joke from a friend pero para sa akin, patama iyon. Every decision in life may affect others.Sa bawat salita at kilos natin pwedeng makagaan a makasakit tayo sa iba.
” We can never give what we don’t have”. Right how can you teach good values kung ikaw mismong nagsasabi ay hindi mo alam at ginagawa iyon…..guilty….But we can do something to resolve it. Be a model, an example to our dearest pupils…and for sure they will follow us…

    2. Sa Kanbas ng Lipunan

my title:Ang HINDI Nakikitang Selda ng Lipunan
A very inspiring and heart breaking work of Joey Velasco. The message of the painting delivered a deep impact to me. His painting taught me how to appreciate and value life. Na minsan nate-take for granted lang ang lahat ng mga nangyayari sa aking buhay.

On our society, this social cancer is killing us slowly but we prefer to disregard it by competing each other to survive. Nakakahiya man minsan ganyan ako……….

Each children posses colorful stories of their own despite of their situition. But paano tayo makakatulong?

I know..a simple but powerful prayer for them can help….

    Thanks God I’ve made it…..

  4. 2. How can we address the social problems portrayed in Joey Velasco*s “Sa Kambas ng Lipunan/ On The Canvas of Society”

    “Karapatang Pinagkait”

  5. A. The psychosocial foundations/basis of education
The psychosocial foundation of education is relies on the different concepts, theories and aspects wherein the learners acquired and conditioned their selves through their psychological traits. This is the way how a person acquired their education through their knowledge, skills and attitudes that make them a better person. This can be happen only if we the teachers understand the different attitudes and behaviors of our students in order for them to gained education. And we must also lead and guide our students in order them to learn by adopting the good ways of every individuals in their environment wherein it maybe controlled or direct.

    b. temperament and personality
We as individuals and an educators, we have different personalities. To manage and teach well our students, we must possessed proper values and unique behaviors in order them to become a tactile learners. We as an educators, need to teach our students to manifest their actions and behaviors for an instance. We can help our students to manage and control their unnecessary behaviors to meet their needs to become a unique individuals.

    c. learner and learning process
Education is not only for the young ones, but also for all who wants to have a better life. The teacher must know the abilities, attitudes, intellectual capacity, strength and weaknesses of thelearners. The teacher not only the giver but also learner. The learnings that we get from the others helped us to develop our personality and we gain knowledge. From what we have learned from other people, we could now share and impart knowledge to our pupils or students. The teacher must also aware the feelings and the needs of learning of their students because they can gain knowledge through movements, images and symbols just like the saying, “ LEARNING IS FUN.” Learning is meaningful when it connects to student’s life.

    d. Motivation has an important role in the learnings of the students. It directs activities towards the achievement of every individuals and controls their behaviour. It also inculcates the spiritual and moral values in the minds of the young, gives satisfaction and happiness to every individuals. We can motivate our students giving them a clear instructions and with your good posture. Gaya ngangkasabihan, “We can never give what we don’t have.”
If we are a disciplined person, we can also give a right discipline to our learners. For that, learnings continued process without any hindrances. In there we can guide them properly to the right path they are taking. Where ever they go, they brought it and showed to the world their success with pride.

  6. 1.1 The Psychological Foundations/Basis of Education

Education depends upon on the learner who acquires conditioned by his pyschological traits. All conciousness of facts and phenomena of experience are based upon the expectation of nervous system particularly the brain. The pyschological basis of foundations which viewed on differentiate organism such as structuralism, functionalism, behaviorism and Gestalt pyschology. These school of education have their own uniqueness by explaining the individual cognition of mind.

    1.2 Temperament & Personality

Temperament is the aspects of individual’s personality such as introversion and extroversion. There are four types of personality temperament, sanguine, choleric, melancholic and phlegmatic. Each of these temperament explain the individual differences which tend to understand in a holistic view of the personality of a person. They have owned strenghts and weaknesses. As call of my profession, I am aware that I have students who are introvert and extrovert. By this fact, I have mission to help them knowing themselves more and discover their inner personality. I should help them, and lift them up especially those who are introvert so that they aprpeciated themselves more. Additionally, the strategies I may be offered would not be the same as yesterday’s approach. I am more careful on how do I interact them. Moreover, it is the same in our daily activities on how we interact people because everyone is unique.

1.3 The Learner & The Learning Process
Learner is someone who learns from a teacher. It is longing for knowledge which teachers’ feed/teach. There are different types of learners; visual learners, auditory learners, read write learners and kinesthetic learners. As a teacher, I know that everyone has owned learning styles and process. As I mentioned, learners might not good academically but good in dancing. He is still good learner. Therefore, learners will be based on how they are ready. As knowing their learning styles and process, we understand and appreciate our students.
Likewise, I have experienced that my students are not good academically. Her learning process is poor, but she can cope up. One time in our activity, I discovered that she is good in volleyball and easily can follow step. I observed that she is kinesthetic learner. Hence, this student has poor learning academically, but kinesthetically is good. Therefore, I appreciate and admire this student.

    1.4 Motivation, Discipline & Guidance
Motivation explains on the ability to learn which someone’s reason for doing something. Motivation maybe negative or positive. As a teacher, I am aware that I am giving positive amd negative reinforcement. Negative in a sense that my students are afraid of me. They did their task because they are afraid I might get angry but the respect I should have received is there. However, I explain to them that I am strict because I care for them and love them that they need to do an effort for their studies. In a sense of positive reinforcement, I give them reward if they get high scores or win in any competition in school, praises if they get correct answers thus differentiated teaching is applied.
Meanwhile, teaching is my passion. I see to it that I give my best and do an extra effort for them. Loving my students motivate me to go beyond my responsibility.

    2. Considering the Sociological Foundations/Theories (Social Stratifications/Groups/Agencies for Education, and some theories on Human Relations & Leadership), How could we address the SOCIAL PROBLEMS portrayed in Joey Velasco’s “Sa Kambas ng Lipunan/”On the Canvas of Society”.

Title: El Carbon and El Lienzo

Charcoal ( el carbon) is hard black material that is made by burning wood. Charcoal is mostly pure carbon, called char, made by cooking wood in a low oxygen environment, a process that can take days and burns off volatile compounds such as water, methane, hydrogen, and tar. In commercial processing, the burning takes place in large concrete or steel silos with very little oxygen, and stops before it all turns to ash. (amazingribs.com). It comes from a tree probably roots, husk, branches, and twigs or excess of a made furniture. In short they are useless things made into a useful things.
Charcoal can be associaed to different subjects. In physics, charcoal is the result of intense heat function. In culinary, it can be a substitue of source of heat in the absence of stoves or gas range. In history, it was used by the primitives to cook food. In art, it is a tool to create paintigs or maybe sculpture for the ntense artists.
The documentary “Kambas ng Lipunan” by Joey Velasco is a clear presentation of the present situation of the society just only in the Philippines. Kambas or Canvass (el lienzo) is the reality itself. Invetiable has happened is happening, and God forbids would happen in the future. However, I appreciate how Joey put Jesus in the story. Jesus reflects that there is hope for the future. In relation with the charcoal with those children, the story of life itself is a root of cycle. These children were products of wrong choices of their parents or victims of poverty itself. They may seem useless, liabilities of the society or for those heartless people the “curse” of the community. Consequently, like charcoals they can also turn into productive beings. Who knows, what those kids can do given the right chances. Putting Jesus in the painting sends a feeling of hope, compassion and love. At the same time, as christian he was calling us to do something.
Charcoal can never be useful without hands to use it. It cannot be a source of heat without someone’s hand who would burn it. It can not be used to paint without someone who draw it in a canvass. The absence of a hand that will use it would deplete its purpose. The canvass of the society is a given reality that cannot be denied. The beauty of the future painting to be drawn a “canvass” will therefore depend on the hand that will put the painting tool like the charcoal on it.

    1. Psychological Foundations/Basis of Education

Basic foundations in life begin in what you firmly believe. I firmly believe that education is dependent on what principle a certain individual believes. He/She would be very effective if he/she stands with his/her principles in life. There is a saying that you can’t give what you don’t have. Every individual has their own potentials that are developed through the process of education. Yes it is true that education depends heavily upon psychology because the amount of education that the learner acquires is conditioned by his psychological traits such as general mental ability, aptitudes, temperament, interests, effort-making capacity, and physical conditions among others.

    2. Temperament & Personality

Let me begin with this quote: “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” Character defines who you are. It also determines how you live your life. Your character is your personality and vice versa. As a teacher our students look upon us as model of good character and pleasing personality. We must convey to them the best we could be. Once w e determine our own personality and character it is up to us how we could flourish it and cultivate it to become progressive individuals as we contribute to the progress of this country.

    3. The Learner & Learning Process

Each and every one of us is unique and special in his/her own way. As what Genesis said, we are created in God’s image and likeness. We are capable in doing lots of things. Not just any things but great things. As a teacher we provide learning to our students. So it is important to know who our learners are. We should know how to cater different needs of different learners. Our students would appreciate us more if we’re not just their teachers but a friend, an inspiration and even a shoulder to cry on.

    4. Motivation, Discipline & Guidance

There was this coffee commercial that really gets my attention. Its tag line was “Para kanino ka bumabangon?” Simple but really catchy. This could make you think, what’s your motivation in life to keep doing what you are doing. I was really awed by this commercial. Motivation is an act of giving someone a reason for doing something. Motivating people is not an easy thing to do because you need to be motivated first. Every people have his/her own way to motivate him or herself. As teachers, we should motivate our students to be able to pass learning. Once they are motivated they will allow us to guide them and mold them to be the best they can be.

    B. Kambas ng Lipunan
    A Ray of Hope
    By: Jacklyn Natad

The first time I’ve watched this documentary I was really touched. If we could be more concerned and compassionate to our fellowmen I don’t think this children in the documentary would exist.
This documentary is an eye-opener for all of us. It is not enough that this kind of problem exists. We should do something about it. It may not be big but in our own small way at least we could ease the hardship of these children. We could help them by giving assistance in their education. Another way is helping their parents to make a living by giving them jobs or even teaching them livelihood projects.
These children need a ray of hope. Hope that someday their life would improve. But they can’t do it alone. They need us.

    1. Psychological Foundations/Basis of Education

There is a popular saying that teachers are born not made. Nothing could be further from the truth. Teachers are born and made. Teaching is becoming more scientific and teachers require extensive background in foundation courses in education. The disciplines that make-up the
foundations of education include Psychology of Education, Philosophy of Education and Sociology of Education. Psychology of Education or Educational Psychology aims at equipping the teacher with insights regarding student behavior and learning. Philosophy of Education teaches the student the purposes of education as derived from the philosophy of a society, like the opinions of the people, which will determine the kind of Education to be given. Sociology of Education forms part of the Foundations of Education because it brings out the needs, values and aspirations of people upon which education is based. Therefore the three aspects (philosophy, psychology and sociology) are very necessary in the study of education, especially in the training of teachers.

    2. Temperament & Personality

Temperament refers to behavioral style, the how of behavior. It is like an artist’s canvas. It is your basic inherited style. It is the fabric underlying who you are. Generally speaking, two of the basic temperament types are outgoing or extroverted and two are more inward directed or introverted. This varies based on temperament blend and our individual personality development. Personality describes what or why of behavior. It is like the painting on the canvas. It is what you have built on top of your temperament. Two people with like temperament may be very different in actual behavior. Factors that affect personality include socialization, education, birth order, siblings or lack of siblings and interpersonal pressures will cause us to adapt and change our behaviors. Understanding temperament – your own and others – make you much better equipped to handle interpersonal relationships successfully. Studying your own temperament helps you understand your strengths and weaknesses and why you do some of the things you do. Understanding another’s temperament can help you adapt your communication to theirs or, at the least, understand why you have problems with them.

    3. The Learner & Learning Process
In the process of learning, there are numerous things that play a significant role towards making it a smooth, pleasurable and constructive process.
First of all, the teachers are those who set the tone for a great learning environment. However, a lot depends on the way the learners face the lessons and overall, learning.
To begin with, a learner must seriously take into consideration that learning is a great commitment. Most of the times, it requires hard work in order for it to be a successful procedure. Building up knowledge should be continuous; that is, the learners should consistently study so as not to have any gaps, for the reason that then they will have serious problems in their learning. Learning is like a chain, and each lesson and studying time is a link in the chain. If the learners fail to study or miss a lesson without making up for it, then they automatically break the learning chain and their learning is disrupted. For that reason, teachers are there to remind learners that both of them should stick to a schedule and that when a lesson is missed, it will surely be made up for. Learning will become much easier and naturally, more pleasant for students. Plus, they will help their teachers enormously, as the latter will be able to adapt their lessons to their learners’ needs and special traits.

    4. Motivation, Discipline & Guidance

Motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. Motivation is what causes us to act, whether it is getting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain knowledge. It involves the biological, emotional, social, and cognitive forces that activate behavior. In everyday usage, the term motivation is frequently used to describe why a person does something. Anyone who has ever had a probably immediately realizes that simply having the desire to accomplish something is not enough. Achieving such a goal requires the ability to persist through obstacles and endurance to keep going in spite of difficulties.

    B. Kambas ng Lipunan
    Innocent Children
    By: Jerrylyn Torres

Mahirap sila titigan, masakit sa mata. These are the words of Joey Velasco in his documentary, Kambas ng Lipunan. Words that described on what he felt when he saw the children that he used as models for his painting, “Hapag ng Pag-asa”. It was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper”, but instead of the regular faces of the apostles, he used children with different stories and personalities.
The documentary was filled with stories that personally touched my heart. It was like I’m with Joey Velasco, traveling to find out where these children are now and what happened to them. In my perspective, I really don’t have any connections with these children but somehow I felt that they needed me. Their eyes were able to express how much pain they feel that time. I was one of those passerby’s who think that their situation was normal. A mixture of pain and guilt is what I felt after seeing the documentary. The children represents not just the rotten society itself but the reality that many us today tend to become snob and selfish. We are blind and we never tried to connect with them.
Children represent innocence, joy and life. But on what I’ve seen, it was like almost the opposite. Their innocence was being abused. One girl that caught my attention; she became pregnant at such a young age. Early pregnancy was never new tome. Yet still I felt like, questioning her, ‘why did you let it happen?’ I can never ask nor get an answer from her. I will never know what really happened to her. Whenever I see children I always think about the joy they have. But in the documentary, though some of them smiled, you can actually feel that the joy that supposed to be with them had vanished. How can one possibly feel happy if in reality you already have burdens?

  9. Amary B. Cannu SpEd 502: Psycho- Social Foundation of Education
University of Makati Prof. Gail Montero

    Final Exam
    1. Identify the one Big Message/ Concept that we have to look into in the following major topics that we have discussed:

1.1. The Psychological Foundations/ Basis of Education
    1.2. Temperament and Personality
1.3. The Learner and The Learning Process
    1.4. Motivation, Discipline and Guidance

    2. Considering the Sociological Foundations/ Theories (Social Stratifications/ Groups/ Agencies for Education, and some Theories on Human Relations and Leadership), how could we address the social problems portrayed in “Joey Velasco’s “Sa Kambas ng Lipunan”/ “On the Canvas of the Society”?

Come up with your short article/ write- up on this, with some insertion of your other concerns that you to emphasize to make your article significant. (Any style/ approach will do feel free to speak your mind.)

    Answers:

1.1. Education depends heavily on Psychology in the sense that:

 Psychology contributes to understanding of the means of education, first, because the intellects and characters of any one’s parents, teachers and friends are very important means of educating him, and, second, because the influence of any other means, such as books, maps or apparatus, cannot be usefully studied apart from the human nature which they are to act upon.
 Psychology contributes to knowledge of methods of teaching in three ways. First, methods may be deduced outright from the laws of human nature. Second, methods may be chosen from actual working experience, regardless of psychology, as a starting point. Third, in all cases psychology, by its methods of measuring knowledge and skill, may suggest means to test and verify or refute the claims of any method.
 Psychology contributes to a better understanding of the aims of education by defining them, making them clearer; by limiting them, showing us what can be done and what cannot; and by suggesting new features that should be made parts of them.
 Psychology makes ideas of educational aims clearer.
 Psychology enlarges and refines the aim of education.
“Psychology is the most influential foundation of Education.”

Understanding temperament has many benefits such as understanding others better or being able to communicate more easily with temperament types that are different from yours. But while you cannot change your temperament type, all of us CAN change our behaviors. Knowing your temperamental weaknesses can help you reduce their impact on your life. Knowing your temperamental strengths can help you release them more into your everyday life. Feed your strengths and starve your weaknesses. Understand how your temperament impacts other types of individuals and adapt accordingly.

“The starting point of understanding people is to realize and accept the fact:

    “Everyone is not like you!”

1.3. We, as a teacher must be a learner too though we teach and educate. Teachers must not stop learning so that we can share/ teach effectively all the learnings that we have to our learners. And teachers must teach in the way that he/she considers that all the learners are different in the sense everyone is unique so teachers must teach using the differentiated instructions to his/ her learners.

“We cannot share what we don’t have!”
    “Everyone must be a learner!”

1.4. Teachers have different roles in educational institutes. Some of those roles are to be a motivator, counselor and a parent to his/ her students. Motivator in a way that teacher motivates his/ her students to have focus and study well and have value on education. Counselor in the sense that teacher must guide and counsel his/ her students not only when his/ her students in trouble or in a problem but it must be always. We all know that we teachers serve as a second parent of our students so as a parent of our students we must discipline them and not to tolerate them when they are showing undesirable behaviors and actions.

    “Teaching is a passion.”

    2. “Prime Mover”

As I watched the video it leads me to find a very touching and inspiring work of an artist. The message made a big impact and delved to my inner self. It teaches me how to value and appreciate life more. It touched me with its sincerity of execution through his canvas. Obviously, there is social cancer that has been prevailing around us that we simply deny to ourselves that it exist and get blinded by the reality of it. We see all these kind of situations everywhere and immediate action is salient. Through Joey Velasco’s work, I saw the true picture of our society. The depressing sights that linger around and continue to cause grief and sorrows that is vividly defined as Poverty. It is precisely shown on his obra, “The Last Supper” where it integrates social relevance by putting street children instead of apostles with Jesus. These children has a “colorful” stories of their own. He made a difference by sharing his talents and come up with this video to share his work and social campaign. I am proud of his work so to speak. What is important, he had made his point and had delivered his message clearly and powerful. I just can’t imagine, that such video campaign should come from an ordinary painter and not to our elected politicians who had so many promises for our country. Joey Velasco used this medium to enlighten us. How I wish and pray I could also do the same work similar to this video and I believe that God will be using more people to do this kind of work or advocacy. I hope and pray that everyone must realize that all of us have purpose/ mission in life why are we here on this wonderful world that we have, mission and purpose not only to our loved ones but to the people who surrounds us like in the “In the Canvas of the Society”. This video enlightens me and helps me to realize that I must not forget the missions/ purposes that I have to do in my fellows especially those in needs. In the career that I am taking right now, I am more motivated to finish it and apply it to serve other people. God is really great that He gave us a professor like “Ma’am Gail” because God is using her for us to be a better individual not only with our career but also with our spiritual life. God let this happened for us to know deeper our purpose in life specially in serving children with special needs. I pray that God will use me in serving and helping those people in need and with the career/ work I have I will continue helping and serving children with special needs.
The statement from the video that really touches my heart is “They rely on God’s mercy” and that statement help “Joey Velasco” to realize that God is the “Prime Mover” not us or not on our own strength and with that realization he used it to be the inspiration for him to do his work and advocacy. It help me also to realize that I must not forget my missions and purpose in life and I believe that our “Prime Mover” will help me to fulfill it in His time.

Thank you so much Ma’am Gail. You have a “Big Heart po” that really touches our hearts.

    To God be the Glory!

  10. part 2:
    2. Considering the Sociological Foundations/Theories [Social Stratifications/Groups/Agencies for Education, and some theories on Human Relations & Leadership], How could we address the SOCIAL PROBLEMS portrayed in Joey Velasco’s “Sa Kambas ng Lipunan”/”On the Canvas of Society”:
May nangyari ba?

How could we bring about “Hapag ng Pag-asa” to those 12 Innocent Souls?

  11. SHORT ARTICLE

    GOD BLESS….. THIS IS IT!

    1. The Psychological Foundations/Basis of Education
Psychology is the most important of the foundations of education. It plays pivotal in the process of teaching and learning. The psychology used specifically in education. We can say that both psychology and education are interrelated. Education is the shaping behavior, whereas psychology is the study of how, when and why to shape these behaviors.

    2. Temperament and Personality
Personality has to do with individual differences among people in behavior patterns, cognition and emotion. It refers to individual differences in patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. Almost every day we describe and assess the personalities of the people around us. Whether we realize it or not, these daily musings on how and why people behave as they do are similar to what personality psychologists do. Two concepts that quickly come to mind are ‘temperament’ and ‘character.’ In everyday language these terms are sometimes used more or less interchangeably with ‘personality,’ and historically they have often been used in contexts where, in more recent times, ‘personality’ would be employed. Within psychology, however, they have somewhat distinct meanings. Temperament usually refers to those aspects of psychological individuality that are present at birth or at least very early on in child development, are related to emotional expression, and are presumed to have a biological basis… Character, on the other hand, usually refers to those personal attributes that are relevant to moral conduct, self-mastery, will-power, and integrity.

    3. The Learner and the Learning Process
Many students would likely cite a desire to learn as the primary reason for committing four years to a college education. But what do we really mean when we use the word “learn”? It is something we all do from the moment of birth, so most of us likely take this very complex process for granted. How many of you have spent time trying to understand the meaning of learning, or how it occurs? Although many of us have a general sense of what it means to learn, there are often many assumptions involved. Teachers often assume that, because they are “teaching,” students must be learning. Students assume that, because they have read their text and memorized facts, they have learned something. A teacher does not teach but causes learning to occur.

    4. Motivation, Discipline and Guidance
Motivation is literally the desire to do things. It’s the difference between waking up before dawn to pound the pavement and lazing around the house all day. It’s the crucial element in setting and attaining goals—and research shows you can influence your own levels of motivation and self-control. So figure out what you want, power through the pain period, and start being who you want to be. Motivation results from the interaction of both conscious and unconscious factors such as the (1) intensity of desire or need, (2) incentive or reward value of the goal, and (3) expectations of the individual and of his or her peers. These factors are the reasons one has for behaving a certain way.

Bakit nga ba may salamin?

  14. 1.1. The Psychological Foundations/ Basis of Education.

Knowledge of the domain of educational psychology is central to the teaching enterprise and to the preparation of teachers. The way in which we teachers are educated and supported to meet the challenges of the 21st Century students.

Possess broad and deep understanding of children, the subjects we teach, the nature of learning and schooling, and the world around us, exemplify the critical thinking we strive to develop in our students. Competent teachers are careful not to bore, confuse, or degrade students, pushing them instead to interact with important knowledge and skill. Such teachers interpret the understandings that students bring to and develop during lessons; they identify students’ misconceptions, and question their surface responses that mask true learning.

    1.2. Temperament and Personality
Temperament refers to those aspects of an individual’s personality, such as introversion or extroversion that are often regarded as innate rather than learned. Both children and teachers temperaments impact how effective classroom teaching practices are and the quality of teacher-child interactions. Classroom management based on awareness of children’s and teachers’ temperaments leads to improved classroom environments for all students.
1.3. The Learner and the Learning Process

In the process of learning, there are numerous things that play significant role. To begin with, teachers impart the knowledge to his pupils, each child being guided to develop the peculiar potentialities. A learner must seriously take into consideration that learning is a great commitment. Most of the times, it requires hard work in order for it to be a successful procedure. The learner is a person responsible for their advancement in learning and should be organized, attentive and should be prepared to study, so as to be successful in the work they have undertaken. In order for them to achieve this though, the teacher is responsible for the learning process to a great extent. If the teacher turns the classroom into an enthusiastic and encouraging place for learning (as well as organized), then the learner will enjoy being there as well.

    1.4. Motivation, Discipline and Guidance

Motivation is a need of desire that energizes and direct behavior. Motivation that lots of people mind have been made into a goal and itself. Motivation is not a goal; motivation is a mean to get into a goal.

Discipline is a learned attribute that produces positive character which displays commitment, consistency and control.

Guidance means to guide, direct or to lead is concerned with the best development of the students and ultimate development of a school or college.

I get motivated myself through my positive thoughts and sometimes the satisfaction that I would be gaining by accomplishing a specific task always motivates me to do good job.

It is important for me to exercise self-discipline to be successful in life. Self-discipline can mean very different things to different people; for my students and colleagues etc. Self-discipline is often about motivating yourself and making yourself concentrate on your goal and get things on time.

  15. Psychological Foundation
    Basis of Education
1.) We can’t give what we don’t have so as educator we all know that the foundation of education is Psychology. It is essential and influential because we think/reacts according to our psychological background. We must have the information so that we can share it to our students. The students think/ reacts to the kind of and amount of education (info) that the learner acquires is conditioned by his psychological traits. As teachers we don’t know when/how we influence the life of our students.
We are the who pushes them guide to reach their dreams.
    1.2 Temperament & Personality
We are all special, unique and Precious!I myself learn knew to myself. I feel loved and belong to the group.
1.3) The Learner and The Learning Process
What kind of learner I’m I yesterday, today and tommorrow?
Learning is a life long process so we keep on learning everyday of our life.

  16. 1.Identify the “ONE BIG MESSAGE/CONCEPT” that we have to “look-into” in the following major topics that we have discussed:
1.1 The Psychological Foundations / Basis of Education

“The root of education is relationship” -Teng, SpEd Teacher

We educators are compassionate in finding the most effective way in how we support the system in education. We look at different kind of perspective from the learner, methods, strategies, family until quality of service. In order for us to give our student the highest possible potentials a teacher should have a good foundation in psychology and education. We need to understand the needs of a child, to focus not only on the learning and teaching but the effect of the psychology that influences the knowledge and growth. As we reflect the educational psychology is used as a “foundation” in teaching education. Psychology is way to understand not about learning but also by reflecting the own process of leaning among the students. If the teachers are thoughtful professionals, they need to have a good connection and relationship for each student. They need to know and understand the process meta cognitive knowledge for learning and teaching inside and outside the classrooms. We need to glue the self-awareness of our students to the subject matter we offer. Self awareness is a good place to start with, not only for the students but teachers as well. Advance learning of Psychology is a discipline we need to apply similar to subject we taught everyday. Psychological foundation should intertwined to teaching, we can integrate a meaningful learning depends on existing knowledge or foundation of the learner. How good it is if education and psychology has the same map we look at. I hope psychological reflections, experiences, case analysis in learning and teaching will give opportunities within home, school and community. Today let’s start the learning in good relationship and connection.

    1.2 Temperament & Personality

“I think therefore, I am” – Rene Descartes, French philosopher/mathematician

“The way we see the problem is the problem”. I think Stephen Covey is right in his statement. The world has a natural flow of problems, problems we experience in our everyday agendas. Probably our problems run within our personal, one-on-one and social relationship. Problems are natural but it may vary depends on the person who see it. Two hungry people for instance have two possible actions other my steal and other my work to satisfy his stomach. The good thing about problems we see different kind of responses and personality. According to some school of thought in Psychology, personality and temperament develops by our childhood experience, environment, biological structures and reinforcement pattern. In school we encounter different kind of personalities and temperament among our students and co-workers. Sometimes we find difficulties in dealing with them. Personality helps us dig deeper to how we manage ourselves and people in working and social situation. Understanding the personalities is enough without valuing unique differences of each individual. We should look them inside their hearts, share the journey what they going through. The good news here is that most of our students believe in us, we have the power to remove their invincible band-aids. Learning and teaching is more enjoyable if we have a chance to borrow each others lenses.

1.3 The Learner & the Learning Process

“If you know your enemy and know yourself, you need not to fear the result of hundred battles.” -Sun Tzu, Author, “ Art of War”
Everyday is a wonderful journey. We join our students in their process both mentally and psychologically. I’m happy because God gave me the opportunity to unite with them with this special mission. Most of my students can express their appreciation by saying or writing while others are non-verbal, but they show it to you by hugs, eye contact and smiles. They’re all unique inside and out. Psychology and experience help me to meet their individualized needs. Inside and outside the classroom you may identify their leaning diversity. Teachers should use multi-disciplinary approach as they meet the unique styles of every learner. As we go through the everyday process we learn values from, patience for instance. I believe that no slow or bad students to a firm yet gentle teachers.

    1.4 Motivation, Discipline & Guidance
“Teachers are the wind beneath the wings of every student” –Teng, SpEd Teacher

“I hate schools, I don’t like joining my classmates, I’m afraid to recite, and they might laugh at me when I give wrong answer” here are some statements we encounter in our teaching-learning process inside and outside our classrooms. Yet, good education and behaviour pattern starts in home. Inappropriate behaviour is a signal for a teacher to call the attention of parent to attend and to participate in decision making. It’s a part of teacher’s role to be motivator, leader and a counsellor. School is another haven for children to chance and manage the behaviour concerns. In our special school we impose a program that helps our children to meet their positive behaviour. We provide home a program, monthly home room meeting and weekly behaviour monitoring. Listening is a key to understand learner, home school. We motivate them intrinsically, discipline them as a good role model and guide them as a friend. We all know that every students has wings, teacher taught them how to fly.

    2. Considering the Sociological Foundations / Theories (Social Stratification/Groups/Agencies for Education, and some theories on Human Relations and Leadership),
How could we address the SOCIAL PROBLEMS portrayed in Joy Velasco’s “Sa Kambas ng Lipunan” /”On the Canvas of Society. How could we bring about “Hapag ng Pag-asa” to those 12 innocent souls?
Short Article /write up on this, with some insertion of your other concerns that you want to emphasize to make your article “significant” to your readers.

Title: “Unang Pila sa Lamesa” First come, First Serve

Unang Pila.

Good luck!

  17. 1.1 The Psychological Foundations/Basis of Education
The Psychological Foundations of Education helps us look-into the INDIVIDUAL person, it teaches us to understand that each student is different from each other, that we teachers should open our eyes from the past and historical background of each student we have. Understanding them will help us to make adjustments on how we can CONNECT to them to facilitate a well conducive learning relationship with them.

    1.2 Temperament & Personality
Each person has their own personality, teacher and students have their own personality. There are things that we know about ourselves, and others also know, same as things that we know that others do not, and things that others see in us the we do not know. Personality is unique in every individual and as teachers, we are to make sure that we acknowledge that our students may show different temperament since they have different personalities. We are also to acknowledge that each personality may match or mismatch with each others personality types which may give positive or negative effects. Again, understanding the different personality types will help us to create a better learning environment to our students and their classmates through proper matching and correct classroom management.

1.3 The Learner & The Learning Process
There are different types of learner which may depend in many ways; how do they acquire knowledge, is it auditory? Visual? Kinesthetic? and many other ways. Learners acquires certain knowlegde from different stages. There are step by step processes which they need to pass through, milestones, certain zone of proximal distance from level to level. Jumping to a certain level is not advicable. In learning, there are different strategies and processes that can be used by teachers to process learning to their students. A step by step approach/theory, tested through scientific experiments and researches. One example is an evidenced-based learning process which is the behavioral approach, we can use a reinforcement for every correct responses of our student which will increase the probability of it occuring again. A single approach in learning is not enough, a holistic approach needs to be done.

    1.4 Motivation, Discipline & Guidance
Touching the emotion of a child brings learning more faster from short term to long term memory which will increase learning and better output from them. In order to touch emotion, a learner needs to be motivated positively. Different ways can be done to do a positive motivation, one example of this is the reward system. Negative motivation isn’t advicable since it will just increases fear from the learner, but it can also be used for learning. One best way in discipling a child is through modelling of good and acceptable behavior that the child or learner will love to follow. Scheduling is essential in discipling children wih special needs. Behavioral contracts are also important for students who usually disobeys teachers or parents, making one will help them to be aware of the consequesnces of their negative actions by acknowledgement. Communication and connecting is very important in disciplining and guiding the students.

  20. “You wanna help? So what?”

Our society consists of several people with their own little parts. Some enjoy what they are doing, some are not, and others does not have a choice but to accept and try to live the life that was given to them.

You may see a child with no food to eat, a child who doesn’t have parents and is a parent in a very young age, a bullied child, a child who gets his food from the left over of others or worse from the garbage, a child who longs for an education, a child who wears tattered and very old clothes to school, a child who longs for a parent, love and affection, a child who is striving to get high grades and top the class, a child who wants to play and enjoy life, a child who has dreams and just dreams. There are levels of problems and concern of children in our society that needs to be addressed.

But you, an adult, a teacher, a doctor, a lawyer, a politician, a spiritual leader, a nurse, a professional who may not be aware of all these things due to your very busy schedule at work, in business, in school, or at church. You are so focused with what you are doing, working hard for your family, for your monthly internet bills, bill for that gadget you are currently using while reading this, working and earning for that new dress or new watch you wanted to buy you’ve seen yesterday at the mall, for the gifts that you are preparing to buy for your family and friends. There are a lot of things you are doing for your personal interests, but what about these children?

What did you do with the child who knocked on your window asking for food or money? How about the child who enters the jeepney and gave you a small brown envelope? What about that? Is it a modus? Oh, maybe it is! But, what did you do to help the child? How about while on your way to the mall and earphones is in your ear, you saw two kids sniffing a plastic, what d’you think they are doing? Do you even care? You do? But why will you care? Are they your relatives? Your son or daughter? What did you do when you saw an old lady with a child who is very thin begging on the foot fridge on your way to work? Did you even bother? Oh dear, you might get late, maybe next time? How about when your friend invited you a month ahead for a volunteer event for street kids? Did you even bother to check your schedule or you just gave praises to your friend for what he is doing and said that he will go to heaven? When you saw those kids while watching on the tv, did you rant and blame the goverment and said ‘if only they do this, do that, there would be no kids like that..’ Did you say that? Have you suggested ways on how to help those children? Oh, you did? Very good! Clap! Clap! Clap! Amazing! Bravo! Now its all in you brain! You did suggest it in your brain, commented in Facebook your thoughts, updated your status of what you felt towards them. Well, thank you for what you feel, but these children does not care! Keep your feelings and go home! Do not pity them, so what if you’ve got the latest iPhone? So what if you’ve got the Xperia Z3? So what if you can take a picture of them and have a selfie with these children and post it online to get likes?

Do you really want to help? Then, good thinking. But since you don’t have time and you are very busy. Then maybe, just maybe when you get rich you’ll be able to help them! Rich? So how do you define that? You’ll work until you die? Savings? Investments? Business? How about those children you’ve seen? Then keep your thoughts of helping if you don’t have time! These children does not need your heart, they don’t need what you feel, they don’t need your bright ideas, what they need is for you to make a move! For you to make your thoughts in action! Compassion without action is USELESS! If you kept on thinking and pitying, it’s useless! Do not just post a status of helping on your Facebook account, you should private message a friend, make a group and tacle the things you might do, brainstorm and put that bright ideas into action, not just merely posting ‘I am sad, I saw a child who is begging, I hope I can give him money but I am getting late, let’s help them? Let’s pray for them?’ If you want to help, so what if you won’t put that in action! Tangible things, food, clothing, education, connection, talk to them, visit them, help them, GIVE LOVE and put it in ACTION!

To God be all the Glory!

We must use also innovations in teaching as we use modern technology that capture their interest.
    2.Temperament and Personality
Temperament are our pattern of behavior and the ways we usually respond to situations. According to Psychologists, the innate aspects of an individual personality such as introversion or extroversion is termed Temperament. It is also defined as a person nature, one’s usual way of thinking or acting. They are instinctive or natural behaviors rather than learned. Personality is defined as distinctive and relatively enduring ways of thinking, feeling, and acting. Personality is the sum total of ways in which an individual reacts and personality interacts with others. Determinants of personality include: brain, physical factors, social, cultural, religious and heredity factors. Your temperament is your artist’s canvas. It is your basic inherited style. It is the fabric underlying who you are. Personality is like the painting on the canvas. It is what you have built on top of your temperament. People with the same temperament maybe different in actual behavior. The temperament is the foundation, personality is the building. Taking your basic temperament, you add life experience, culture, education, and upbringing to form your personality. Can you change someone else’s personality? If you can’t change you own, it is clear that you can’t change someone else’s but that won’t stop most of us from trying. We must know the temperament and personality of the people around us to enable us to understands the strengths and weaknesses of others. We can understand and communicate with other people.
3.The Learner and the learning process
The traditional ways of learning & teaching is found to be too rigid & too out-dated. But, now teaching learning process consists of four basic elements (a) Assessment. (b) Planning. (c) Implementation. (d)evaluation. It is a method for monitoring and judging the overall quality of learning or teachingbased on objective, data and scientific criteria. . It is deliberate intervention that involves the planning and implementation of instructional activities and teaching experiences to meet intended learner outcomes according to a teaching plan. It can be defined as the relatively permanent change in an individuals behavior. In the learning process, the teacher will act as facilitator and students centered. We must provide varied activities that will meet the needs of our pupils. We should also use strategies that shows the different theories of learning.
    4.Motivation,Discipline & Guidance
Motivation is the act of stimulating an action. Providing an incentive or motive especially for an act.Motivation of school of learning depends upon such factors as the learner’s purpose or intent to learn, his sel-f content and self- confidence, his level of aspiration and his knowledge, and his appraisal of how he is doing in relation of his goals. It is the job of the teacher to create atmosphere which provides desirable outlet for needs in the direction or worthwhile incentives . Motivation can be intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation is an internal stimulus to learning and based on motives that every individual strives to satisfy. Motives are within oneself. Extrinsic motivation is an external stimulus to learning activity. It is based on incentives.
Discipline is another element essential for a well- functioning classroom. Establish classroom rules in the very beginning of the year and familiarize students with your system for disciplining those who break the rules. Make sure students understand the way rules and rule-breaking works in your classroom, and stick to the system when it does come time to discipline a student. Many teachers use a three-strikes approach to discipline, and have ultimatums such as removal of recess time, extra work and parent conferences.

Guidance as the procedures used to assist individuals to find maximum satisfaction in their educational and vocational careers. Guidance involves the utilization of interviews and tests, and the study of background information, in order to arrive at a systematic plan of educational or vocational pursuits. Guidance is a fundamental and integral part of the educational system. It provides for the holistic development of the students. Education and guidance support and complement each other to maximize students’ growth and development. We should guide our students to do the right values and stop the wrong ones. We should also understand the attitudes and values of our students so that we give the appropriate actions to meet their needs.

Motivation, organization, discipline and guidance are effective teaching style are all essential elements of a successfully functioning classroom that acts as a positive learning environment for students. When considering your approach to these four elements, you should take into account the age and developmental level of your students, your resources as a teacher, and the goals you have for the year. When all four of these factors are working in tandem, the result is an effective learning space.
My motivation in my life is my family without them I can’t do nothing. I work for them because they give inspirations and love that I need. They push me do the things I can’t do. They help me with my goals in life. They made me complete and satisfied as I travel with the world of struggle.

1.Considering the Sociological Foundations/Theories( Social Stratification/Groups/ Agencies for Education and some theories on Human Relations & Leadership) How could we address the Social Problems portrayed by Joey Velasco “Sa kambas ng Lipunan” on the canvas of Society:Pls watch the video.
    – Social problems affects large number of people and view as being undesirable to other people. School has important obligation to minimize such problems or not totally eradicate them.Social conditions can emerge social problems such as norms, decline in the effectiveness of social institutions, extensive in social and cultural diversity. Such problems like population explosion, sex problems, poverty, gambling, alcoholism, traffic congestion, unemploymentand pollution. As a Filipino we must be aware of these social problems that we are facing today especially in our institution as a teacher. We can help regarding some issues by starting in our students. We should provide information about those problems. Let us understand the needs and problems of our pupils to be able to help them. In our community we can also help in joining social groups that help streetchildren or abandon children or in need persons to provide their needs. In our country let us know what is really happening in our country so we can minimize such problems by helping other people in needs. People differ in one another but if we will have the same goal and have unity , we can faced those problems and solve them with the help of our government.
“Sa Kambas ng Lipunan” this video is very touching and appealing to our lives. It enlighten us to appreciate and give importance to life. My deep emotion is really captured by the impact of this work. Obviously, there is social cancer that has been prevailing around us that we simply deny to ourselves that it exist and get blinded by the reality of it. As we view the real situations everywhere but people do not make immediate actions regarding those problems. We don’t know where we will start. This piece of Joey Velasco revealed the true picture of our society. The social problems that cause grief and sorrows that rooted to poverty. It was showed in his masterpiece “The Last Supper” where it integrates social relevance by putting street children instead of apostles with Jesus “.
As a Filipino we are here to help one another. We play an important part in this issues.. We shall start facing these social problems and think about what we can do. Can we do it now?

  25. 1.1 Psychological Foundation/ Basis of Education

The principles of education are most important based upon the facts and ptinciples of psychology. The different schools of psychology that gives important to educational primciples are: 1. Structuralism 2. Functionalism 3. Behavioralism 4. Gestalt Psychology and 6. Other psychological schools.

*Structuralism held by Wundt and Titchener, they state in a strong and definite way that experiences are based upon the operation of the nervous system, particularly the brain. For example, the prefrontal lobes are primarily involved in so-called “executive” functions, such as drawing conclusions, conceptual thinking, creative thinking, critical thinking, organizing, planning, etc. This, of course, heavily influences a person’s psychology. I remembered when I had my first ever neuropsychological test,ne of the requirements in public school, while taking the exam I am afraid perharps dito nakasalalay ang aking career, if the results will be recommended and fit to work, they will know if I am mentally fit from the result of my psycho test. Luckily, I passed the neuropsychological exam. I remembered also during that time, one of the psychologist asked me what did I see from the picture she showed me, it is so funny that I saw a monster from he abstract picture but i did not tell it to her.

*Functionalism held by William James, the proponent. He asserts that mental process should be regarded as functions or operatioms of the organisms in its adaptation to and modification of the environment. Functionalist are interested in how an organism makes its adjustments to its environment. Maybe I could relate this to two of my friends, my friend migrate to other country, she told me her adaptation or great adjustment she did in her first two months of staying in Canada, it was never so easy for her how she will adapt to the temperature there. My other friend, he was born in city place unti he has decided to lived in province, for him, his adaptation is quiet easy because he didnt find hard to get along with the people there because he is also a Filipino, only on how to speak and talk with the people bcause of their own dialect.

*Behaviorism founded by Watson. This theory believes that a stimulus, physical or otherwise, creates a response. Our actions, thoughts and even feelings can all be reduced to behaviors, one can observe and scientifically explain without resorting to the mind. It focuses heavily on the idea that simple rewards and punishments that shapes our entire personality. I set myself as an example, when i did something good in the eye of my parents and then hey affirmed it, I became more motivatedto do good. Like knowing a little about behaviorism has made my life as a teacher much more interesting. I can now recognize so many behaviors — be they good or bad — as the results of past reward & punishment. I feel more prepared to handle disciplinary issues, because I can see them for what they are, objectively and scientifically.

*Gestalt Psychology introduced by Max Wertheimer, according to this theory the whole is more than the sum of all its part, meaning that the whole possesses qualities, attributes, or functions which the individual component elements do not possess.Wertheimer emphasized importance of seeing the whole structure of the problem. Discovery of correct solution to the problem was followed by insight occurrence.Wertheimer suggested usage of gestalt principles in education. He contrasted productive thinking from rote learning, which occurs without understanding. Gestaltism therefore suggests that learners should be encouraged to discover whole nature or relationships between elements of a problem, but also to exclude implicit assumptions that might be incorrect.

As a math teacher, there are times that I couldn’t really achieve my goal to my pupils how they would be able to solve math easily. Sometimes, I have to present different ways in solving math pra lang tlga mas lalo nila maintindihan and because of that sila rin mismo nakakadiscover ng ibang pamamaraan, nakakatuwang isipin na hindi agad sila sumusuko sa pagsagot ng math. 🙂

    1.2 Temperament and Personality

Temperament or emotion. This refers to a certain emotion to cause to behave someone to a particular way or to be affected by a particular condition. It is the usual attitude, mood or behavior of a person. One with a poor temperament, one who is easily irritated and emotionalized even with trivial matter, will have many social as well as learning problems that may retard his learning process. Emotional stability and emotional maturity are important assets in the development of one’s capabilities. According to Hippocrates, temperament is determined by a person’s level of 4 different body fluids, called humors.

    1. Blood was associated with a cheerful, or sanguine temperament. 2. Phlegm assoc. with a calm, or phlegmatic temperament. 3.Black bile was associated with a depressed, or melancholic temperament. 4. Yellow bile was assoc. w/ an irritable, or choleric temperament.

While my classmate discussed and enumerated the characteristics of each temperament I have realized that I am a sanguine. I became interested with my character when I heard this topic. People with this temperament tend to be lively, sociable, carefree, talkative, and pleasure-seeking. They may be warm-hearted and optimistic. They can make new friends easily, be imaginative and artistic, and often have many ideas.

    PERSONALITY

What is more important in determining your behavior – your personality or the siltation in which you are in (the environment)? Are you a “nice” person? Am I always nice? The answer, if I am being honest, is no. The question then is, if you are a “nice” person that is part of your personality, why are we not nice all the time? How can you be not be nice if that is your personality?

I have noticed when you are in the complex situation, your attitude or personality is always been tested. Just like me, i have noticed myself lalo kapag busy or nagmmadali then may bigla may gusto makiusap sayo nasa sitwasyon ka na kailangan mo ba mag react o magrespond, paano ka magrerespond sa mga ganong situation, dun lalabas at matetest ang iyong personality o attitude, am I always nice all the time?

Personality can be defined as an individuals unique, relatively consistent pattern of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

1.3 The learner and Learning Process

The learner is the most important component in the educative processes and so he is the center of attention in the whole educational system. Kaya importante na malaman at pag aralan natin ng husto ang bawat individual student natin, especially for a teacher like me. We should know them as a unique individual. No two individuals have the same characteristics, capacities, personalities, and behaviors. We should dentify their strengths and weaknesses so that ways and means may be planned to enhance his/her ability to assimilate learning. May mga bata na mahina sa isang subject o dalawa o higit pa ngunit siya pala ay nag eexcel in some other things, meron mga talent or skills na dapat natin binibigyan ng pagpapahalaga para lubos natin mahubog ang identity niya as learner.

The learning process presents the nature of how the learner learns. Learning is acquisition through maturation and experience, of new and more knowlege, skills and attitudes that wil enable the learner to make better and more adequate reactions, responses, and adjustments to new situations and conditions.

There are types of learning, cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning. Cognitive learning is the acquisition of knowledge, facra and information. Affective learning is the acquisition or development of moral and spiritual values such as honesty, integrity, piety, etc.. Psychomotor learning involves the use of the muscles in bodily movement. These three domains of learnings are the following objective that must be shown and achieved in our learning process. Even one of the domains ay may maachieve ang bata para masabi natin na natuto siya for that specific topic. There are kinds of learning, the direct and indirect learning. Riding a bicycle is direct learning while reading book, newspaper, listening to radio, watching movies and televisions are indirect learning.

    1.4 Motivation, Discipline and Guidance

Motivation is another important factor in learning. Without motivation, not much or no learning at all will take place. Thee are several definitionsof motivation but they all amount to the arousal of ineterest that directs the learner towards a goal. It gives invitation to the interest and creates desire on the part of the learner to perform an activity to satisfy a need. The importance of motivations are 1. Directs activities toward the achievement of a goal. 2. Controls and directs human behavior. 3. Inculcate spiritual and moral values in the minds of the young. 4. Gives satisfaction and happiness to the individual.

    Discipline

Discipline is training the learners to act in such a manner that will create classroom conditions conducive to the attainmemt of instructional objectives. To create favorable attitudes toward authority. At the beginning of the school year, we orient the children about the classroom rules. Teachers also have their own individual rules inside the class. It is important to condition the students about your set up inside the classroom and it should be imposed clearly with the students so that you may build a harmonious and good relationship with them at the end ot the day. You teach them to obey the rules and also to submit to the authority. You teach them to behave well and at the same time you attain the classroom management with your students. Discipline should be prompt I remembered my former pincipal at my previous work, she told me that if I will discipline a child it should not be postponed from that moment of incident dapat daw prompt para daw maging effective ang pag didisiplina sa bata. Halimbawa nakipag away o kaya nanguha ng gamit na di skanya dapat my immediate action for that specific behavior, wag ipagpabukas pa dahil yung effectivity ng discipline ay mawawalan ng kabuluhan.

    Guidance

Guidance and counselling helping the individual to make a wise decision or choice from among the many altetnatives that are open to him in meeting life’s conflicting situation. The student, after having shown the consequences of options chooses the best action when faced with conflicting situations. Self-decision and self-direction is thus attained. One of he roles of a teacher is to counsel his/her students, this means you are helping him to come up with his good decision making, enlighten his mind to many possible consequences. But still the final decision is in the hands of your student, ang job mu lang is redirect him and lead him into better decision. We are accountable to lead them but the consequences from what decision he takes is no longer our accountabality.

  27. 2. How could we address the social problems protrayed in Joel Velasco’s “Sa Kambas  ng Lipunan?”

Amazing. Obedience is better than sacrifice. 🙂

  28. 2. How could we address the social problems protrayed in Joel Velasco’s “Sa Kambas ng Lipunan?”

Amazing. Obedience is better than sacrifice.
Children are the victims, they are being exploited with their rights. they are required to work even if this violating their rights to be educated and to live as a full child, to live in a fair environment. when i watched this film i felt frustrated. i wanted to help but i cant. they are been demoralize, degraded. That’s why in the bible God love the littlest most rather than the adult. meaning God loves the pure and kind heart rather than the proud people.
